BEZIRKSSCHULRAT/DISTRICT SCHOOL INSPECTORATE TULLN
The district school inspectorate Tulln is responsible for the pedagogical and organisational tasks of a variety of school types (primary, lower secondary/new middle schools, pre-vocational schools) in small/bigger villages in rural areas with the town of Tulln as its centre.
The school inspectorate encourages schools and individuals to get prepared for the challenges of education in the 21st century (e.g. new developments in the education of 10 – 14 year olds). Close links with the University College of Education Vienna/Krems have been fruitful in many ways: e.g. offering tailor made in-service teacher training courses, training on the job opportunities, school practice in initial teacher training). In the district of Tulln many schools have decided to introduce the CLIL approach in different ways (e.g. employing a native speaker, relying on new media). The district school inspectorate has supported all these efforts in many ways (e.g. organising workshops, dissemination activities).
All schools of the district participate in a CLIL team competition (English Olympics), again supported by the inspectorate.

BILINGUALE HAUPTSCHULE FÜR NEUE METHODEN UND MEDIEN ZWENTENDORF
BILINGUAL LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR NEW METHODS AND MEDIA ZWENTENDORF
The school was one of the very first CLIL schools in the district of Tulln. Teachers work together with a native speaker from year 1 to 4. The school is very well equipped with new media, which makes it an excellent place for innovative learning environments. Teachers regularly organise visits to English theatrical performances or film. Project work is very popular by e.g. courses like “English way of life”, participating in English Olympics or language weeks in England. Pupils in year four are prepared to take the Cambridge KET exam. The library is well stocked with fiction and non-fiction books also in the English language.
School centred learning is a priority, pupils learn to take responsibility for their own progress; individualisation and differentiation are practiced at all levels and all subjects; competence based learning and learning in teams are state-of the art practices.
The school participated in an Austrian project coordinated by IMST: Topic: CLIL – science
